A South Essex MP has visited a recently reopened rural pub and toasted their future. Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, visited The Punchbowl, at Paglesham Church End, right on the Eastern tip of his constituency, which recently reopened, having been closed for several years, following the COVID 19 pandemic.
The pub, which includes a restaurant area, is literally built into a row of houses and has been reopened by couple Sally and Robert Beaumont. Mark and guests, including Essex County Councillor Tony Ball, visited the revived venue following an event to promote the new special needs school in Rayleigh, which should now open sometime next year.
Commenting on the visit, Mark said:
“It’s great to see The Punchbowl back in business. It has both good ale and nice food and a very lively atmosphere - at least on the day we visited! I wish Sally and Robert who have taken it on and all their team at the pub all the best for the future.”
