Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois has recently put Rayleigh and Wickford on the map by commissioning a local Rayleigh business to frame a map of his new constituency for his House of Commons Office.
Mark, who prior to the election was the MP for the old constituency of Rayleigh, commissioned ‘Costcutters’ of Eastwood Road, Rayleigh, to frame a new ordnance survey map detailing the new constituency of Rayleigh and Wickford. The new constituency takes in the town of Wickford, a part of Basildon District Council, but loses South Woodham Ferrers, a part of Chelmsford Borough Council, which is now represented by John Whittingdale MP.
Mark thought it was a good idea to have a map of the area in his office so that he could point out the boundaries of the new constituency when he holds meetings with government officials and others in his Commons’ office. Mark, who was a Basildon District Councillor in the 1990s has already visited Wickford a number of times since his election, to familiarise himself with local issues.
Speaking outside ‘Costcutters’ in Eastwood Road, Rayleigh Mark Francois MP said:
“Following the election, the area I represent has changed and so I have shopped locally by asking a Rayleigh business to frame a new map of my constituency for me to use in my office in the House of Commons. I paid for the framing myself and thanks to ‘Costcutters’ visitors to my office can see that Wickford is now in fully in the frame and Rayleigh is on the map.”
