Rayleigh MP, Mark Francois has written to Katrine Sporle the Chief Executive of the Planning Inspectorate to highlight his objection to the appeal by developers Colonnade Land LLP to build up to 326 residential dwellings at Coombes Farm, Stambridge Road, Rochford.
The original application proposed by Colonnade was rejected by Rochford District Council’s Development Control Committee as it represented inappropriate development of the Green Belt and was in contrast to the Council’s Development Plan.
In his letter Mark stressed that he was writing as the local MP to support the position of both Rochford District Council and Stambridge parish council in opposing the appeal.
Commenting on his objections to the appeal, Mark Francois said:
“I have received a number of representations from my constituents who are opposed to this application and having recently visited the site to see for myself I think there is no good reason to pave over this part of the greenbelt.
I hope that when the inspector reviews all of the evidence, including from local residents who feel strongly about this, they will eventually decide to reject this appeal which I believe represents further potential overdevelopment in this part of Essex.”
