It was back to work and constituency visits for Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, when he paid a post-election visit, to praise a local primary school on their best ever set of SATs results.
Mark visited Wyburns Primary School in Nevern Road, Rayleigh, to congratulate them on their best ever set of results in their recent SATs; despite all of the school’s recent problems with Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete or RAAC.
As part of the visit, Mark also watched the school’s summer sports day and handed out a prize to the winner of the hotly contested “dad’s race.” Mark visited the school at the invitation of Headteacher Kath Sansom, who he worked with closely during the RAAC crisis, to help maintain face-to-face education for Wyburns pupils, while the school underwent emergency roof repairs.
Commenting on his visit, Mark said:
“After everything Wyburns went through during the recent RAAC crisis, emerging with a record set of SATs results is a truly remarkable achievement. I would like to congratulate the Head, Kath Sansom and all her staff and pupils for doing so very well in adversity. Wyburns is a lovely school- and they deserve recognition for what they have achieved.”
