Rayleigh’s MP, Mark Francois and the Chairman of Rayleigh Town Council, Cllr Danielle Belton, spent an evening supporting local young people at Chelmsford’s Civic Theatre on Thursday.
The Mushroom Theatre Company (part of the Equal People performing arts group) are based at Brook Road Industrial Estate in Rayleigh and incorporate a number of young performers with special and additional needs. They put on a wonderful performance, in a three hour show entitled “I found a place!”
The show, with a cast of nearly a hundred young performers, from toddlers to teenagers, included a mixture of song, dance and comedy sketches, as well as a major medley of hits from the popular West End musical, ‘The Lion King.’
Commenting on the show, Mark Francois, a long-time supporter of Mushroom, said:
“I am really proud the have the Mushroom Theatre Company and Equal People based in my constituency. Led by their inspirational founder, Penny Bubb, they put on yet another spectacular show, to a packed audience of parents, grandparents and carers. Both Danielle and I really enjoyed their performance - and we wish Mushroom and all their truly inspiring cast, all the best for the future.”
