Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, was shown the results of precautionary work, to protect staff and pupils, during his recent visit to a local secondary school.
As part of his visit to FitzWimarc School, in Rayleigh, Mark was given a tour by the school’s Headteacher, Mr Robert Harris, including being shown the results of work to strengthen the roof of the school hall against Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete or RAAC.
Works were also undertaken to protect the sports hall and adjoining areas, against any risk from RAAC as well. During his tour Mark was also shown around “The Bridge” a new unit at the school to assist children with special educational needs, to integrate more fully into the wider school community.
Commenting after his visit, Mark said:
“It was very reassuring to see the lengths the team at FitzWimarc have gone to, in order to mitigate any risks to staff or pupils from RAAC. The works have been successful and I would like to commend staff and pupils for all their efforts in making this happen.”
