Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois was shown the exciting new facilities available to prepare students for a high-tech career, during a recent visit to the new South Essex College Basildon Technology Campus.
The new, multi-million-pound building, which is located on the site of the old Basildon market, is a high-tech campus, which focuses on teaching students digital and computerrelated skills, to equip them for future careers in areas such as computing, media and communications.
Mark was taken on a tour by the new Principal of South Essex College, Denise Brown, during which he witnessed students from across South Essex working on a variety of projects, ranging from film and digital media to advanced games design.
Commenting on his visit, Mark Francois said: “As someone who grew up in Basildon in the 20th century, it was exciting to see this new facility which is ably equipping Essex’s young people to succeed in the 21st. There are great things happening at the new SEC Basildon campus and I wish Denise and her team and all of their students the very best for the future.”
