Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, today met with both Basil Scarsella, the Chief Executive of UK Power Networks and Mark Adolphus, the Director of Connections for UK Power Networks, at their headquarters at Elephant and Castle, in London.
Mark sought the meeting, following several complaints of power outages in and around Rayleigh. During the meeting with UK Power Networks, Mark raised the issue of a faulty power cable delivering electricity to Rayleigh, which has been diagnosed as apparently causing the various power cuts. UKPN have been actively investigating this issue in recent weeks and are hopeful that the problem will soon be solved.
Whilst sitting down to discuss the faulty cable, Mark also took the opportunity to raise the issue of utility companies frequently digging up the roads in the area and the inconvenience which this causes to local residents. Mark also sought assurances that future developments would have no adverse impact on reliable power delivery in the constituency.
Commenting on the meeting, Mark Francois MP said:
“I was pleased to take the opportunity, during the Summer Recess, to raise several issues facing my constituents in Rayleigh and Wickford, with the Chief Executive of UK Power Networks, Basil Scarsella. UKPN have agreed to look again at the issue that caused the fault to try and ensure that my constituents are not facing further power outages. I was also pleased to have the chance to raise the frustration caused by utility companies frequently digging up roads in the constituency and to request that any future works are carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible.”
