Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, recently cut the ribbon to officially open the new Post Office at the local convenience store on Plumberow Avenue, in Hockley.
The branch, run by Postmaster Siva Karuppiya, is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday from 0800 – 1800, offering Hockley residents 60 hours of convenient Post Office services every week.
Siva and his wife Gaya took on the convenience store five years ago and have made subsequent major improvements to the layout to meet the needs of their customers. This has included modernising the store and making the retail area larger.
Commenting on the recent opening, Mark Francois said:
“It is great news that a brand-new Post Office has opened on Plumberow Avenue. I want to thank Siva and Gaya Karuppiya for opening this new branch, with which I was very happy to assist. The Plumberow Post Office is open six days a week making it very easy for the Hockley community to visit to do banking, pay bills, post letters and parcels and to do home shopping returns all year round.”
