Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, recently took time out on a Sunday morning, to open a Community Fun Day, held at Rayleigh Leisure Centre, in Temple Way, off Rawreth Lane.
The event, which was organised by Fusion Leisure, who run the Leisure Centre, involved a number of community organisations and charities, and had stands manned by Essex Police, the local branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), along with representatives from Havens Hospices as well.
As part of the fun family day out, people were able to enjoy playing on a bouncy castle, whilst youngsters (and some not so young!) were able to enjoy glitter painting. The day attracted hundreds of local residents and some from further afield as well and helped to raise a considerable sum for charity – including towards Havens Hospices £17m appeal to help complete their brand-new hospice, which is currently under construction in Southend and which Mark visited only a couple of weeks ago.
Commenting on the event, Mark Francois MP said:
“I would like to thank the staff of Rayleigh Leisure Centre, for what was a very successful Family Fun Day. Lots of my constituents, both young and old, attended and had a really good day out, whilst helping to raise much needed funds for charity. In particular, I am pleased to hear that Havens Hospices did well and that monies raised will contribute to their target to complete the hospice, which will be a real asset to South Essex. Well done Rayleigh Leisure Centre for making it such a fun and enjoyable day!”
