Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, was on hand on a Friday morning recently to perform the official opening of a new Co-op store at the bottom end of Ferry Road in Hullbridge. The Co-op group have ploughed in a considerable amount of investment converting this store, from the old Budgens convenience store which served the people of Hullbridge for many years.
The new store, which is much brighter an airier than its predecessor, has a very modern and professional layout and seemed popular with the customers that Mark spoke to during the visit.
Mark was assisted during the opening ceremony by the store manager, Dave Low, who was himself a Hullbridge resident for many years, but now lives nearby in Rayleigh. Mr Low explained that the Co-op were determined to provide a high-quality service to residents in Hullbridge and that he and his 16 full and part time staff based in the new store are committed to providing a good shopping experience, both for people living in the village and those visiting from further afield.
Speaking about the opening ceremony, Mark Francois MP said:
“I would like to thank the Coop for the significant investment in Hullbridge and for providing a more modern shopping experience for my constituents. I was intrigued to learn that many years ago, Dave Low worked in the old International Supermarket, in Laindon Centre, which is where I used to go shopping as a youngster, including running errands for my mother. Dave has lived in South Essex for most of his life and he is clearly committed to local people, so I wish him and all his staff the very best for a successful future, helping to serve my constituents.”
