Local MPs Sir David Amess and Mark Francois had their eyes drawn to a special raffle prize, when Sir David Amess recently addressed a monthly meeting of the Rayleigh and Wickford Conservative Association’s monthly Supper Club, at Saxon Hall, near Southend Airport.
Sir David, who is an annual guest at the Supper Club, gave his usual barnstorming address, during which he spoke about everything from backing Boris to be Prime Minister, to the state of the Conservative Party and the need to rebuild trust in politics following the 2016 EU Referendum.
During the subsequent raffle, one of the guests at the Supper Club, won a large tin of biscuits emblazoned with the emblem of a double decker bus. Given all the recent media speculation about Boris’ habit of painting double decker buses on the side of crates, both MPs immediately seized on this as an opportunity to demonstrate their support for their desired candidate to become our next Prime Minister.
Commenting on the unusual raffle prize, Mark Francois MP said:
“Everybody now knows that Boris Johnson MP paints buses in his spare time, so we couldn’t help but notice this eye-catching prize at the recent raffle. It was great to have Sir David come and address our Supper Club, as he does successfully every year, but this little added twist made for a really perfect evening and everybody got the joke!”
