Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois recently met with Mr Matt Brennan, Public Affairs Manager, and Mr Chris Mackie, Project Manager at Network Rail to discuss the continuing closures on the London Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria Line.
During the meeting, Mark expressed to the Network Rail bosses the frustration of his constituents who are having to put up with constant work on the line, particularly on weeknights and over the weekend, meaning commuters are often forced to take bus replacement services for their journeys to and from London.
Mark stressed his concern that works on the line were taking too long and causing too much disruption. He pressed Network Rail to try and put more resources into the project in order to speed up completion and to make sure that the works were finished next year.
Commenting on the meeting, Mark Francois said:
“During my meeting with Mr Brennan and Mr Mackie, I wanted to make it extremely clear to them that my constituents are not happy with the length of time these works are taking to be completed and the number of week night and weekend closures they are having to put up with as a result. I shall continue to hold Network Rail to account and I do hope that the engineering works are carried out as quickly as possible with minimal disruption to my constituents to ensure the work is finished next year.”
