Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois, who is also the Patron of the Rayleigh Town Museum, recently paid a special visit to view the museum’s “Titanic” exhibition, which has proved very popular with visitors.
Mark was given a tour of the exhibition by the Chairman of Rayleigh Town Museum, Mr Mike Davies, who is also a Titanic officanado and a member of the British Titanic Society. As such, Mr Davies is an expert of the history of the Titanic, which sunk on its maiden voyage in April 1912. Mark visited the museum on the 14th April, which is the anniversary of the sinking of the famous ship.
Commenting on his visit to the exhibition, Mark said:
“Mike Davies is a real expert on everything to do with the Titanic and the museum’s exhibition is largely based on items from his own collection. The exhibition has proved very popular with visitors and Mike has fielded many questions on what happened to the ship when it sank so tragically on its maiden voyage. As patron of the museum, I was pleased to see they are putting on such a popular exhibition which it seems has been a great success.”
