Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois recently paid a visit to Martin Coulson, the Headteacher at Bromfords School at Grange Avenue, Wickford, to discuss the possibility of upgrading the condition of the road.
Grange Avenue suffers from a number of potholes and dents in the road surface, not least due to the heavy use that it gets when parents travel to and from school on the school run every day. Mark has been making representations to both Basildon Borough Council and Essex County Council about the possibility of having the road, part of which is currently un-adopted, upgraded to a higher standard, at which the County Council could adopt it and therefore become responsible for the maintenance of the road in the future.
Mark discussed the possibility with Headteacher Mr Coulson during his recent visit and agreed to support efforts by the school to see the road improved.
Commenting on the visit Mark Francois said:
“Grange Avenue is a very heavily used road, not least because of having the school at one end of it and I am very keen to support the School’s efforts to get the road improved. If the local authorities can be persuaded to undertake this work, that would be to the benefit to both the school and local residents alike. I intend to keep pressing on this matter which I hope will eventually lead to a successful outcome.”
