Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois recently paid a visit to the new headteacher at Beauchamps, Mr Mat Harper. Mr Harper has been the assistant head at Beauchamps for a number of years and recently took over following the departure of longstanding headteacher Mr Bob Hodges.
During their meeting, Mark and Mr Harper discussed a number of issues including the school’s conversion to academy status, pressure on school budgets and the development of new facilities at the school.
Mark has visited Beauchamps a number of times in his role as Member of Parliament for Rayleigh and Wickford but this visit gave him an opportunity to build a relationship with the new incumbent.
Speaking about his recent visit to Beauchamps, Mark said:
“Beauchamps is a very good school, graded as outstanding by Ofsted, and this is due in no small part to the previous headteacher, Mr Bob Hodges. Nevertheless, Mat Harper has been with the school a long time and knows it well and I was impressed by his vision of the school as a family which inspires everyone to achieve their best and beyond. I am pleased to have met Mat and look forward to remaining in touch with him and Beauchamps School in the future.”
