Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois cut the ribbon today to officially open the new “Jelly Beans” pre-school at Hockley Primary School.
The brand new pre-school, which can cater for up to 30 pupils, is being run in association with Hockley Primary School and will be using the internationally renowned Montessori method of teaching young pre-school pupils about the world around them. The pre-school has a closed off woodland area, in order to allow its young pupils a chance to learn safely about their natural environment.
Mark was joined at the opening by pupil ambassadors from Hockley Primary School as well as Headteacher, Mrs Melissa Heatherson, Chairman of Governors, Mr Paul Carter and Essex County Councillor Malcolm Maddox. Hockley Primary School, which is rated Outstanding by Ofsted, now has this nursery in place to help improve its facilities for youngsters in and around the Hockley area.
Speaking about the opening of the new pre-school, Mark Francois said:
“A lot of people were involved in bringing this project to fruition successfully, led by Mrs Melissa Heatherson, the very active Head at Hockley Primary School. This new facility will be an asset not just to the school but to the local community and it is heartening to think of the very many young pupils that will pass through its care in the years ahead. I wish the new pre-school all the very best of success for the future.”
