Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois showed his support for the Megacentre, which is based on the Brooke Road Industrial Estate in Rayleigh, when he paid a recent Friday morning visit. The Megacentre provides a number of services including a large soft play area for young children, a sensory room and also its “megazone” war game, where people can indulge in combat armed with lasers to engage with their opponents.
The Megacentre, which is run by the charity Active Christian Trust (ACT) helps to raise money to fund a number of social programmes in the community including youth work and support for families experiencing difficulties or who have children with additional needs.
Mark met some of the staff involved in this work and had an opportunity to discuss some of the challenges they face during his recent visit.
Mark was also given a tour of the centre by chairman of the trust, Lawrence Cantle, and expressed his strong support for the very important community work that is carried out from there.
Speaking after his visit to the Megacentre Mark Francois said:
“The Megacentre is quite well known in Rayleigh and provides a wonderful environment for play from young children up to adults who fancy themselves as laser warriors. The centre also carries out extremely valuable social work in the community assisting many of the families in Rayleigh and the surrounding areas and so I was pleased to be able to make a visit and show my support in person for the very good work they do.”
