Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois addressed a packed hall of Brexit supporters during a recently held meeting at Hockley Public Hall.
The gathering was organised by Leave.EU, a sister organisation to the official Vote Leave campaign and had gathered together around 80 Brexit supporters from the wider Hockley area. Speakers at the meeting included former MP, Dr Bob Spink and former Councillor John Hayter, the previous Leader of the UKIP group on Rochford District Council.
Mark also addressed the meeting when he spoke about the need to re-establish Sovereignty in Britain and to move away from a situation where the bulk of our laws are made by the European Union rather than by Parliament itself. In his address, Mark said:
“The European Union is now responsible for over 50% of our laws, which are initiated by 28 unelected European Commissioners, who we cannot choose and whom we have no power to remove, even if we disagree with their decisions. I believe we need to take back control of our democracy and to live in a country where we elect our own Parliament and live under our own laws and that is the overwhelming reason why I believe we should vote to leave the EU on June 23rd.”
