Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois joined Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner Candidate, Roger Hirst, during a recent walkabout in Rayleigh High Street to discuss the PCC elections.
Roger and Mark were accompanied by Tory campaigners who handed out literature and engaged people in conversation about the forthcoming Police and Crime Commissioner election in Essex.
Roger Hirst, a County Councillor from Brentwood and a successful businessman in the city is hoping to replace current incumbent, Nick Alston as the Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex. Roger is campaigning on a number of key themes including no further cuts to regular police numbers in Essex and a new scheme seeking to establish a Special Constable in every village across the county.
Speaking about Roger Hirst’s visit to Rayleigh, Mark Francois said:
“We had a successful walkabout with Roger when he came to Rayleigh and I was pleased by the positive reaction that we received from passing members of the public. Fighting crime is important to all of us and it was good that my constituents had a chance to quiz the man who may have the responsibility of our next Police and Crime Commissioner. Roger is a very approachable chap and a lot of people took the opportunity to discuss crime related issues with him. I wish him all the best for the forthcoming election in May.”
