Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois recently opened the Rayleigh Art Group Annual Exhibition, which took place at the Women’s Institute Hall in Bellingham Lane.
The group, which has been going for some 60 years, includes a number of artists from in and around the Rayleigh area and once a year they come together to put on an exhibition of their work for the benefit of local residents. After officially opening the event, Mark was taken around the exhibition by the group’s Publicity Officer, Colin Mossman, and he viewed a wide variety of paintings and related art work.
Commenting on his visit to the Rayleigh Art Group exhibition, Mark said:
“I was very impressed by the high standard of art that was on display at the group’s exhibition. It is very heartening to know that we have so many talented artists working in and around the Rayleigh area and I understand that a number of the paintings on display were subsequently purchased by visitors to the exhibition. We are lucky to have such gifted people in Rayleigh and I look forward to remaining in touch with the Rayleigh Art Group in the future.”
