Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois has welcomed the news that Essex County Council are due to resurface Queens Road in Rayleigh by the end of June 2016. The road has been in a very poor condition for a long time and Mark, along with County Councillor Malcolm Maddocks and District Councillor Cheryl Roe, have been collectively pushing the County Council for some four years in an attempt to get the road resurfaced.
Long suffering residents have been to Mark’s constituency surgery about this and also written to him on numerous occasions.
Commenting on the decision, Mark Francois said:
“This issue has been going on for several years and I am really pleased that at last Essex County Council have decided to do something about it. The residents of Queens Road have put up with a lot and I am sure that they will be very pleased to know that in the next few months, this job is finally going to get done.”
Councillor Cheryl Roe added:
“After four years of constant campaigning, I have been advised by a Highways Inspector that a resurface will happen between now and June 2016. I met with him recently when he was marking out the road and he showed me the document as I think he felt that I had heard it all before. I appreciate that the residents have been very patient but at last there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.”
