Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, recently paid a visit to Castledon School in Wickford, where he expressed his support for the school’s desire to establish a sixth form.
Mark was visiting at the invitation of Mrs Philippa Holliday, the Principal and he spent some time going through the plans with her and her Vice Principal, Mr John Brewer.
Castledon is a special school and its catchment is therefore quite wide, covering much of South Essex but, at present, there is no opportunity to study there beyond the age of 16.
Commenting on the new plans, Mark Francois said:
“I believe that sixth forms help to enhance schools by adding to their ethos and the variety of teaching available. Castledon is indeed a special school and as the local MP, I am very supportive of their attempt to establish a sixth form. I promised to remain in touch with the school and to make sure those in the Department for Education are aware of the potential benefits a sixth form could bring to pupils from across south Essex.”
