Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, has welcomed the news that the Basildon Council Planning Committee have approved a planning application, submitted by Basildon and Brentwood Clinical Commissioning Group, for a brand new two story GP surgery on the old Wickford Market site, in Wickford, which would replace the current London Road doctors surgery.
Commenting on the news, Mark Francois said:
"I am pleased that the Council’s Planning Committee have approved this application for a new GP surgery in Wickford. I have received representations from my constituents regarding some problems booking GP appointments so I am encouraged by the news that the Council have backed plans for a much needed, brand new GP surgery, which will be larger than the one it replaces and fit for purpose in the twenty first century. This is really good news for Wickford.
I am glad that Basildon and Brentwood Clinical Commissioning Group, working with Basildon Council, are able to move forward with this application and I hope that works will commence soon so that local people are able to enjoy the benefit before too long."
