Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, picked a Minion over a Dalek when he shared the difficult task of judging the best decorated Easter Egg, with Chairman of Governors Valerie Lucking, during a visit to Riverside Primary School in Hullbridge this lunchtime.
Pupils from across the school had put a lot of effort into decorating eggs for a competition which was obviously keenly contested and which had over 50 entrants, from which Mark and Mrs Lucking were asked to select the top 10. A number of innovative designs were submitted, which ranged from an egg based on the children’s character The Gruffalo, A Dalek (appropriately named as the "Eggterminator") and the winning design, which was based on a Minion character.
As part of his visit Mark also discussed progress at the popular school with Headteacher Mr Douglas and he also paid a visit to Hullbridge Pre-School, which is co-located on the school site, where he met its leader Ms Donna Thresher.
Speaking about his visit Mark said:
"It was good to visit Riverside Primary today as well as their successful pre-school, but it required something akin to the judgement of Solomon to try and pick some winners from all the very good entries for the best decorated Easter Egg competition. The pupils had really put a lot of effort into it and I was grateful to have the Chairman of Governors with me to pick the winners. I have been to Riverside several times over the past few years and I was pleased to see the school in as good heart as ever."
