Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, has given his formal support to a recent proposal by Abacus Primary School to expand its intake of students from 45 per year to 60 per year over the next few years. To comply with educational requirements, the school recently issued the consultation document on its proposed expansion in numbers and, having read this, Mark replied to the school to give his formal endorsement as the local MP.
The school, which is already rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted, is planning to expand in order to meet increasing demand for primary places in the Wickford area.
Commenting on his decision to support the school’s plans for expansion, Mark Francois said:
"Abacus Primary School is already a popular school, which is rated ‘good’ by Ofsted and is already oversubscribed. I believe good schools should be encouraged to expand and, having read Abacus’ proposal documents, I was happy to give my full support to their plan, as the local MP. Parents want their children to achieve places in successful schools and Abacus is certainly one of those so I do hope that their plans will come to fruition. I have also copied my letter to Ray Gooding, the Cabinet Member for at Education at Essex County Council and also to the Education Secretary, Nicky Morgan MP so that they are both aware of my support for this important proposal."
