Rayleigh MP Mark Francois spent a busy morning at Wyburns Primary School in late November including cutting the ribbon to open the School’s new entrance hall and administration block.
As well as performing the opening ceremony Mark addressed the School’s assembly where he congratulated the staff and pupils on their recent Ofsted report, which grades the school as “Good” overall (with a rating of outstanding for attendance and behaviour and for contributing to the community).
Mark was taken on a tour of each of the class room by head teacher Mervyn Pocock in which time he took questions from pupils on the role and duties of a Member of Parliament. Mark also heard from Mr Stone’s class about the schools plans to install solar panels on the roof next year to help educate the children on the importance of combating climate change. Before concluding his tour Mark also offered the oldest pupils in year six an opportunity to visit the Palace of Westminster next year to see Parliament in action.
Speaking about his recent visit to the school, Rayleigh’s local MP said:
“I had a really enjoyable visit to Wyburns Primary School and I can see why they scored so well in their recent Ofsted inspection. I was pleased to be able to open the new entrance hall and admin block, ably assisted by some of the pupils. I have told Mr Pocock, the head teacher that I would like to come back next year and see the school’s solar panels once they are fully in action as I think this is an exciting development.”
