Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, recently clocked up 300 constituency surgeries as the local MP, following his latest surgery which was held at the constituency office in Bellingham Lane, Rayleigh.
Mark has been holding regular Saturday morning surgeries twice a month since he was first elected to Parliament in 2001. In that time Mark has met with literally thousands of constituents who have been able to come to his surgery and discuss their problems or issues with their MP face-to-face.
Commenting on passing this milestone, Mark Francois said:
"When I held my first constituency surgery, shortly after being elected to Parliament in 2001, I wrote surgery Number 1 in the top right hand corner of my surgery notes and I have carried on the sequence ever since. In my 300th surgery, people raised issues with me ranging from immigration and access to NHS treatment, to benefits issues and even parking in Rayleigh. I cannot say that I have been able to help every single person who has ever come to my surgery – some problems are frankly just intractable – but I do hope that I have managed to help quite a few and I intend to continue with this pattern of 2 surgeries twice a month into the future."
