Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, recently attended the annual general meeting of the charity, Supporting Carers and Families Together (SCAFT), which was held at the King Edmund School, in Rochford.
Mark, who is President of the charity, joined the Chairman of Rochford District Council, Cllr June Lumley, the Vice Chairman of SCAFT, Peggy Corbett and Operations Manager, Jackie Brown at the event, all of whom addressed the careers and their families who had attended the meeting.
SCAFT offer a wide variety of activities, information and training to carers of all ages, to enhance not only their skills, but more importantly, their quality of life to ensure they are receiving all of the support necessary for them to continue in their roles as carers.
After addressing the meeting, Mark presented two certificates to Young Carer, Aaron Ware, for "providing a positive role model to others" and for his Involvement in the YMCA Music Group Project, before then taking the opportunity to meet with some of the carers and their families who were in attendance, to thank them for their hard work.
Commenting on the event, Mark said:
"SCAFT do very important work in supporting carers of all ages, some of whom are still at school, yet still take on an important and demanding role as a carer. It is important that these people are recognised and provided with the appropriate network to enable them to do this and the AGM gave me the opportunity to meet with some of these remarkable individuals and thank them personally for their effort. I am proud to be the President of SCAFT and I am grateful for the work that they do for my constituents."
