Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, recently spent an enjoyable evening attending the Junior Schools’ Music Festival, which was organised by the South East Essex Schools’ Music Association’s and which was held at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend.
The festival took place over the course of a week and was well attended by over 60 local schools from across the south east of Essex, who joined together each night to form a choir of over 200 pupils, accompanied by orchestras from some of the schools as well.
Commenting on the evening, Mark Francois said:
"It was a pleasure to attend the South East Essex Schools’ Music Association’s ‘Junior Schools’ Music Festival’, especially as two of my local primary schools, Wyburns and Down Hall, were taking part on the night I attended. It was a beautiful evening and the standard of the performances by the children was truly remarkable. There was great energy in what they were doing which was only matched by very enthusiastic reaction of their parents in the audience. Over all it was a great night and very good for the soul. I would like to commend the South East Essex Schools’ Music Association for all the effort they put in to make this possible."
