Mark Francois MP has today been promoted by Conservative leader David Cameron to join his Shadow Cabinet. Mark will retain his existing role as the Shadow Minister for Europe, but this post has now been formally upgraded to Shadow Cabinet rank.
Speaking about his promotion Mark said:
“I am very honoured to have been appointed to the Shadow Cabinet by David Cameron. The issue of Europe is clearly going to remain important, not least in the run up to the European Elections in June and I hope to play an important part in the campaign. This will involve continuing to press the Government for the referendum they promised us on the Treaty of Lisbon.
In addition, I will now be able to represent the views of my Rayleigh constituents at the Shadow Cabinet table and I will attempt to make use of this opportunity as best I can.”
