Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, has welcomed the news that Rayleigh Post Office, at McColl newsagents, in the High Street is to benefit from a new look branch layout, as well as longer opening hours.
The new, improved facilities will offer a mix of two open plan counters, four screened positions and a Post Office serving point at the retail counter. The retail point means Post Office products and services will be available alongside shop transactions from 7.30am until 6.30pm Monday to Saturday, and from 8.30am to 2.30pm on Sundays –a total of 25 extra hours a week.
The Rayleigh Post Office branch will close briefly on October 3rd for a week for refurbishment work and will reopen on Friday, October 11, at 1pm.
Commenting on the proposed improvements, Mark Francois said:
“I understand how important having a Post Office is to my constituents and I am pleased that, following the recent successful relocation and refurbishment of the Hullbridge Post Office, as well as the modernisation of Grange Post Office, Rayleigh Post office is now also following suit – a move which will hopefully improve the quality of service and accessibility for my constituents, especially at weekends”.
