Mark performed the official opening of the library, surrounded by Governors, staff and pupils from the school, before being given a tour of the new facilities. The library, which aims to inspire the children, contains a mixture of traditional books as well as audio books and features a forest mural, a giant ‘Where’s Waldo’ piece of wall art and a peach shaped reading area inspired by the famous Roald Dahl book - James and the Giant Peach.
As well as opening the library, Mark made the most of his morning at the school, taking the opportunity to speak with Headmaster Gary Soars, as well as other members of teaching staff and pupils, before being taken on a tour of the rest of the school.
Commenting on the opening of the library, Mark Francois said:
“I take a keen interest in local education so it is always nice to visit local schools in my constituency, especially to celebrate the opening of new facilities like the brand new interactive library at Edward Francis School. It was a pleasure to witness the children’s enthusiasm for the new library, as well as to see what an asset it will undoubtedly prove to be as a learning tool for the pupils, both now and for many years to come. I thoroughly enjoyed my morning at Edward Francis School and I look forward to keeping in touch in the future.”
