Mark toured the brand new 17,500sqm premises on the Brook Road Industrial Estate, where the company have recently relocated from Rawreth, following a merger with Danish wine merchant Carlo Garn, to form the STC Wine Rack Group. The company now employs around 20 staff, including young apprentices, and is looking to grow further in the future.
Sorrells, which is led by local businessman Tim Lewis, have been producing wine storage solutions for over 50 years, working with clients such as the Ritz Hotel in London, right through to everyday wine drinkers and are now bidding to become the largest manufacturer and supplier of wine racks in Europe.
Commenting on the visit, Mark Francois said:
“I was delighted to help open Sorrells’ brand new premises in Rayleigh. I think it is very important to support local businesses and I am pleased to see that, despite the current difficult economic climate, Sorrells is going from strength to strength, growing at a rate of over 50% a year. I must say, having visited the premises and having had a look around the shop, it isn’t difficult to see why, as some of the designs are simply magical. I hope Sorrells continue to enjoy their success and take on some more of my constituents as employees, and I wish them all the very best of luck for the future.”
