Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, recently praised medical staff from the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court, when he met them whilst attending the Sun’s Military Awards (“the Millies”) at the Imperial War Museum in London.
Mark, who recently visited Headley Court to see the facilities provided for the treatment of servicemen injured in Afghanistan, took time to chat after the conclusion of the formal awards ceremony with members of the Rehabilitation Team, who help to fit prosthetics for wounded servicemen and assist them to recover from their injuries back in the UK.
Mark was attending the awards in his new capacity as the Minister of State for Defence Personnel, Welfare and Veterans at the Ministry of Defence and he spent the evening seeing a number of servicemen and women being rewarded for service to their Country.
Commenting on his experience at “the Millies” Mark Francois said:
“It was a privilege to attend The Millies and to listen to HRH the Prince of Wales, The Prime Minister and a whole host of other celebrities praising out troops for everything they do to keep us safe from terrorism at home. As I have previously visited Headley Court, it was also a personal pleasure to meet up again with some of the team who had been given a ‘Special Recognition Award’ on the night for the remarkable work they do, helping our servicemen and women who are injured in theatre to recover. As someone who once served in the armed forces myself, I have nothing but the greatest admiration for our men and women in uniform and everything they do and it was wonderful to be at The Millies to see these people being rewarded in person.”
