Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, recently welcomed the Hullbridge University of the Third Age (U3A) to the Palace of Westminster, where they were taken on an extensive tour of the building, before taking part in a question and answer session with their local MP.
The members of the Hullbridge U3A arrived via coach and met in Westminster Hall where they were split into three groups before being collected by their tour guides to begin their journey around Parliament.
The tour, which takes just over an hour, took in various landmarks around the estate, such as Central Lobby, which connects the two chambers, the House of Lords and the Royal Gallery, and the Chamber of the House of Commons.
Following completion of the tour, the visitors were met by Mark and given the opportunity to ask any questions, both about the tour and about Mark’s work as a constituency MP, as well as his new role as a Minister in the Ministry of Defence.
Commenting on the visit, Mark Francois said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome Hullbridge U3A to Westminster and I think it is important for people to take the opportunity to come and visit Parliament in order to learn more about what goes on in Westminster and better understand the democratic process - as well as making the most of the opportunity to visit such a beautiful building. I hope the group enjoyed their tour, and I look forward to welcoming a further tour party from Hullbridge U3A in the near future”.
