Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, took time on the recent August Bank Holiday Monday to demonstrate his support for the highly successful family fun day held at King George’s Field. The event was organised by the Rayleigh Chamber of Trade and featured a football exhibition by Rayleigh FC, as well as a whole range of stalls from local charities and organisations, ranging from the Girl Guides and Air Cadets through to the RNLI and the Essex Wildlife Trust.
Several thousand people attended the day, which was aided by good weather and a really lively community atmosphere. A number of the organisations present succeeded in raising considerable sums for charity and overall it was a great day out.
Speaking about the successful event Mark Francois said:
“The Chamber of Trade did a really good job in organising a very good fun day on the August Bank Holiday and I was particularly pleased to see so many members of the local community turn out to support it. We have a strong community spirit in Rayleigh and this was well and truly evidenced by the very healthy turnout on the day. I would like to thank all the stall holders who participated and congratulate the Chamber of Trade for organising such a good day, which my constituents seemed to thoroughly enjoy”.
