Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois recently visited the specialist Cardiothoracic Centre at Basildon Hospital.
Mark was given a tour of the Cardiothoracic Centre by hospital Chief Executive Alan Whittle and Jenny Galpin, Director of Estates and Facilities, and was shown the state of the art equipment catering for people with heart problems across the whole of Essex.
Prior to the centre opening several years ago, people in Essex with heart problems were forced to travel to London, now treatment can be sought much closer to home in Basildon.
During the tour, Mark also visited other areas of the hospital, and took the opportunity to speak to both staff and patients about their experiences.
Speaking following his tour Mark commented:
“I very much enjoyed the tour and was impressed by the facilities available in the Cardiothoracic Centre. It is reassuring to know this resource is available for the people of Essex and there are so many highly skilled professionals who are based in the centre to assist those who need help”.
