Rayleigh and Wickford’s MP Mark Francois recently visited Beauchamps Secondary School in Wickford to meet with the headmaster Mr Bob Hodges and to familiarise himself with the work of the teaching staff and pupils.
Mark, who was re-elected in May to the new constituency of Rayleigh and Wickford, has now begun a programme of visits across the new Wickford part of his constituency including visits to local schools in the town.
During his visit Mark was briefed by Mr Hodges on the school’s strong academic record, before being taken on a tour of the school site, which included seeing a number of lessons in progress.
Speaking about his visit to Beauchamp’s School, Mark Francois said:
""Prior to the election I had visited every school in the old Rayleigh constituency. I have found it very useful to meet with teachers to understand first hand the challenges they face and also to talk to pupils about some of their ambitions. I am now hoping to visit all of the schools in Wickford as well, to learn what they have to offer the young people of our town.
Beauchamps is obviously a successful school and one of its ex pupils is Andy Colson, who now works as Director of Communications for Prime Minister David Cameron. I picked up a copy of the latest school newsletter and I will shortly be sending it to Andy so that he can see that his old school is doing well. I very much enjoyed my visit to Beauchamps and am looking forward to remaining in touch with the school in the future.
