Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois enjoyed a nice surprise when he paid a visit to the British Heart Foundation (BHF) charity shop on Rayleigh High Road, recently.
Mark was greeted at the counter by long-time BHF volunteer, David who reminded the MP that he had been present when Mark officially opened the shop - now almost two decades ago!
Commenting Mark said:
“As someone who collects books, I occasionally pop into some of our local charity shops, just to browse the bookshelf. Imagine my surprise when I popped into the BHF charity shop recently, only to be reminded by David, who was still working behind the counter, that he had been there when I performed the official opening eighteen years ago or so. I would like to commend David and all his colleagues at the shop for everything they do to raise funds for such a crucial national charity as the British Heart Foundation.”
