Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, recently visited the new Rochford Hospital site, which is operated by the South Essex Partnership Trust (SEPT). The hospital provides in-patient care to people across South Essex suffering from mental illness.
The new hospital, which was built on part of the old Rochford Hospital site, has an important role in caring for people who suffer from issues such as depression and eating disorders.
Rochford Hospital caters for both adults and children and it also has a special education centre so that children who are staying there can keep up with school work until they are ready to go home.
On his visit, Mark met with senior staff in the hospital and was taken on a tour of the facility, which included some of the hospital wards. Mark was also able to talk with some of the patients as well.
Commenting on his recent visit to the Mental Health Trust, Mark Francois said:
“Dealing with mental illness can often be difficult but at Rochford the Trust has established a very modern facility to help people, some of whom are very vulnerable when ill. I particularly enjoyed the visit as it gave me the opportunity to talk to many of the staff at the hospital, and acknowledge the important work they do for the community.”
