Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, recently welcomed a party from Rayleigh Primary School to Westminster and spoke to them before they were taken on an extensive pre-Christmas tour around the Houses of Parliament.
Mark was able to meet with the 60 staff and pupils, by the Giant Christmas tree in New Palace Yard, where he answered answers, as well as explaining to everyone what they were about to see on their visit.
The children were then split into four groups, before they each departed on their tours of Parliament, which took in various landmarks around the estate, such as Central Lobby, which connects the two chambers, the House of Lords, the Royal Gallery, and the Chamber of the House of Commons.
Commenting on the visit by Rayleigh Primary School, Mark said:
“It is always a pleasure to welcome local schools up to Westminster so that they can explore Parliament. I believe it helps children to learn and develop an interest in the democratic process, if they are able to come to discover firsthand what they are learning about in their classrooms. I have welcomed several tours from Rayleigh Primary School in the past and I look forward to remaining in touch with the school and welcoming more in the future.”
