Rayleigh and Wickford MP and Patron of Rayleigh Town Museum, Mark Francois recently attended a special presentation on “Rayleigh through time” which was given at the Holy Trinity Church Hall, by Mr Mike Davies, the chairman of the Town Museum. The event, which was attended by around 100 people, was in aid of the Friends of Holy Trinity, who raise money all year round for the maintenance and upkeep of the beautiful church at the top of Rayleigh High Street.
During his presentation, Mike Davies took the audience through the history and development of Rayleigh from Norman times to the present day. His lively talk included issues such as the development of business in the town, the coming of the railway in the 19th century, right up to the present day and the return of the Trinity Fayre.
Commenting on Mike Davies’ presentation, Mark, who also serves as the President of the Friends of Holy Trinity said:
“I was delighted to attend this special event both as Patron of the Museum and President of the Friends. As ever Mike Davies gave a very entertaining and lively presentation, including bringing back many very happy memories and local personalities for the benefit of the audience, who really appreciated learning more about the history of their town. The event also raised a tidy sum for the Friends which will be well spent on the maintenance of Holy Trinity Church.”
