Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, had an opportunity to try out the special ‘chill-out room’ when he paid a recent visit to Abacus Primary School on the Wick.
The room, which is encased in glass and which contains comfy cushions and a number of pieces of play equipment, including a Wii and a PS2, is reserved as a special treat for pupils who are allowed to use it at lunchtimes or after school if they have performed particularly well in class.
Mark saw the chill-out room as part of a wider visit to the school, during which he had a tour of the premises as well as an opportunity to address the pupils in assembly, before spending some time talking with staff, including the Headteacher Miss Heidi Danniells.
Following his visit to the school, Mark Francois said:
“Abacus Primary School is clearly a happy and hard working environment but, having visited virtually every school in my constituency, I can safely say that the ‘chill-out room’ at Abacus is unique. This proves very popular with the pupils who look forward to using it as a special treat if they have worked hard. Abacus is clearly a successful school and having been to see them I look forward to remaining in touch with Miss Danniells and the rest of the school in the future.”
