Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois spent a Saturday evening recently supporting a Charity Ball at the Mill Hall in Rayleigh which was being held by the Mushroom Theatre Company.
Mushroom Theatre Company are part of the charity Equal People, which exists to provide opportunities for children with additional needs to express themselves via dance and drama and thus to help them become an active and successful part of the community.
The group recently moved to a new headquarters and specially converted dance studio on the Brook Road Industrial Estate in Rayleigh and Mark has visited them there on several occasions. Mark, who is a strong supporter of the Mushroom Theatre Company, was pleased to attend the Ball to help raise funds for such a worthy cause.
Speaking about the evening, Mark said:
“The Mushroom Theatre Company and their parent charity Equal People, do a tremendous amount of hard work and represent a wonderful group of children, including a number with additional needs, who put on truly heart-warming performances throughout the year. I defy anybody to visit one of Mushroom’s shows and not be moved by what they see. The group do marvellous work and I am proud to have such a successful charity based in my constituency.”
