Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois recently visited the successful Ashingdon Carnival in Ashingdon where he gave his support to the Essex Air Ambulance. Mark, who is joint president of the Ashingdon Carnival Association, walked around the stalls and talked to the stall holders and local residents. Mark then visited the Essex Air Ambulance stall where he learnt about the vital work this charity does in helping to save life in Essex.
The Essex Air Ambulance, which is funded entirely from charity, was founded in 1998 and has currently flown over 10,000 missions from their base in Colchester around Essex helping save life and prevent injury. Unlike the other parts of the emergency services it’s £250,000 a month running costs are met by donations, without direct state support.
Commenting on his visit to the Ashingdon Carnival Mark said;
“This years Ashingdon Carnival was again a great success, and judging by the stallholders and residents I spoke to everyone had a good day out. I was especially pleased this year to be able to visit the Essex Air Ambulance and learn about the work that this popular local charity undertakes in saving life in our area. Well done to the organisers of the carnival. ”
