Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, recently paid a visit to King Edmund School in Ashingdon, where he was shown the new car and park bus bay which has radically eased congestion for people driving to and from the school.
The new bus bay, which has multiple parking spaces for busses bringing people into King Edmund from the surrounding area, was created as part of a planning gain linked to the Bellway housing development off Bray’s Lane.
For years, the previous narrow entrance way into the school has led to considerable congestion at peak times and has been a source of considerable irritation to local residents. The new purpose built access helps alleviate this problem and has been welcomed by staff, pupils and residents alike.
During his visit Mark also had discussions with Mr Osborn about the schools welcome progress as an Academy before being quizzed about the current political situation by sixth formers studying Government and Politics.
Commenting on his visit Mark Francois said:
"This scheme has been in the offing for many years and it is something I discussed with the previous Headteacher, Mr Graham Abel, who performed the official opening for the car park several months ago. It was therefore good to see this finally come to fruition and I was very grateful to his successor, Mr Jonathan Osborn, for showing me around the area and explaining what a benefit for the school this has been."
