Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois was among several local dignitaries who helped to present prizes to high achieving pupils at FitzWimarc School’s recent annual awards evening, held at the Palace Theatre, Westcliff.
Rayleigh’s MP, who has visited FitzWimarc on numerous occasions down the years, took the opportunity to praise staff and pupils for some of the best exam results the school has ever seen and to thank parents for all their invaluable support for their young people, in helping them achieve their full potential.
In his speech to the assembled audience, Mark also paid tribute to Mr Robert Harris, the headteacher at FitzWimarc, for all his work over the past several years, including the creation of a new sixth form to help the school expand its educational offer to young people in the town.
Commenting on his participation in the awards, Mark said:
“It was a pleasure to attend FitzWimarc’s annual awards evening and to have an opportunity to congratulate so many young people on their remarkable achievements, including over the past twelve months. FitzWimarc is, quite rightly, rated Outstanding by Ofsted and provides young people in Rayleigh with an extremely good education so they are well set in later life. I was delighted to be a part of this experience and I would like to thank all those who attended this very successful evening, including staff, pupils and parents alike.”
