Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois showed his backing for the important work of carers by opening a special carers rights conference at the Coombewood Mental Health Resource Centre in Rayleigh.
As well as opening the conference, which was organised by the South Essex Partnership NHS Trust (SEPT), Mark also stayed on for most of the morning in order to speak to a number of carers and to hear their experiences of caring for their loved ones, often in difficult circumstances. Mark then held what turned into an impromptu ‘question and answer session’ during the mid-morning coffee break, and this resulted in the local MP picking up some specific casework to follow up as well.
Commenting on his visit to the conference, local MP Mark said:
“Carers play an extremely important role in our community and so I was delighted to go along and open the recent carers’ rights conference in Rayleigh. I think it is important to be able to attend events like these and to hear from carers directly about some of the challenges which they face in looking after their loved ones. I came away from the event better informed about some of these issues and also with some casework, which I have already begun to follow up as a result.”
