Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, took time out recently to go and visit Dr Mike Saad and Kevin McKenny - who are Chairman and Chief Operating Officer respectively - of the new Rochford and Castlepoint Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
The Clinical Commissioning Group is made up of General Practitioners from across the Rochford and Castlepoint Council areas and, under the NHS reforms, they now have responsibility for the commissioning of services for patients living in those two areas – including many of Mark’s constituents. As a result, Mark wanted to get to know the leaders of the new CCG in order to discuss ways in which they can provide improved healthcare for his constituents.
Commenting on the meeting, Mark said:
“It was a pleasure meeting with Dr Mike Saad and Kevin McKenny and to have a chance to talk through patient care in South Essex. GPs know their patients best, so I think it is a good thing that they have been given greater power within the NHS to make sure that patients get appropriate treatment. I had a very productive meeting with Dr Mike Saad and Kevin McKenny and I look forward to remaining in contact with them in the future.”
